The Tibetan Yungdrung Bon Library was inaugurated by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on the 21st April 2007. The Tibetan Yungdrung Bon Library is the culmination of His Holiness the 33rd Menri Trizin’s vision for a religious study center at Menri Monastery. The library’s aim is to have a comprahensive collection of important books and rare manuscripts on the Yungdrung Bon and Buddhism, history and culture of Tibet and the Zhang Zhung. Since 1969, His Holiness the 33rd Menri Trizin and members of the Bonpo community have collected Bonpo texts from around the world to be preserved in the Library. The Library now has an extensive collection of Bonpo Canonical texts and books and the Buddist Kangyur, Tengyur and commentaries about each of the four Buddhist schools. So far approximately thirty thousand Tibetan and Zhang Zhung texts and ten thousand books in other languag4s have been collected. The Library itself is a four-floor building in traditional Tibetan styles.
